Honouring Service and Welcoming New Governors
At the end of the Michaelmas term, RGS Worcester said farewell to Vice Chair of Governors, Mrs Rosemary Ham, who concluded an exceptional 31 years of service to the School, including a period as Chair of Governors. In recognition of her outstanding commitment and contribution, Rosemary has been appointed an Honorary Patron of RGS.
We also extend our sincere thanks to Lesley Cook, Sally Mills and Emma Robinson, who stepped down from the Board at the end of last term. Each has given many years of dedicated service, offering generous support, insight, and guidance; their collective contribution has played an important role in the continued development of the School.
We are pleased to welcome two new Governors to the Board. Laura Brown, former Headmistress of RGS Springfield, joins as a Governor with responsibilities for Learning Development and Staff Liaison at RGS Worcester, bringing a wealth of educational leadership experience. Antonia Noble also joins the Board as a highly experienced safeguarding professional and will serve as the School’s Safeguarding Governor.
The Governors play a vital strategic role in the life of RGS Worcester, acting as Trustees of the Charity and Directors of the Company. They work to ensure that the Heads of the four Schools and staff are supported in providing the best possible education for pupils, drawing on their professional expertise, life experience and sound judgement.
The Board of Governors comprises individuals from a wide range of professional backgrounds who work collaboratively with a shared focus on continually strengthening the educational provision across the RGS Family of Schools. One Board oversees all four schools, meeting formally once each term, supported by sub-committees that meet more frequently. Governors also visit the four RGS Schools regularly and often hold specific areas of responsibility, allowing them to maintain close oversight of key aspects of school life.
