A Warm Welcome Back for Old Elizabethans at the RGS Schools’ Cricket Festival
Old Elizabethans returned to Flagge Meadow on Friday 3 July for a special Cricket Tea, held as part of the final day of the RGS Schools’ Cricket Festival.
The gathering brought together former pupils, cricketers, coaches and supporters during a memorable week of Cricket at RGS Worcester. Taking place in the Festival Marquee, the Tea provided a welcome opportunity for Old Elizabethans to reconnect, revisit Flagge Meadow and share memories of their time playing and supporting Cricket at the School.
The occasion formed part of a busy final day of the Festival, with RGS Worcester facing RGS Newcastle at Flagge Meadow, while further fixtures took place at Old Elizabethans Cricket Club and Worcester Nomads Cricket Club. With matches being played across the day, the Cricket Tea added to the atmosphere of the Festival and helped bring together different generations of the RGS community.
Flagge Meadow has long played an important role in the sporting life of RGS Worcester, and it was particularly fitting to welcome former pupils back during a week that celebrated competitive Cricket, friendships, traditions and shared experiences that the sport continues to create.
Our thanks go to Tim Curtis for hosting the Tea, and to all those who contributed to making the event and the wider Festival such a success, including the Foundation team, Cricket staff, Grounds team, Catering team, sponsors, parents, supporters and Old Elizabethans. We are grateful to everyone who helped create such a welcoming occasion and look forward to continuing to bring former pupils together through future Foundation events.
Mr S MacDonald, Foundation Director
