Global Summit Brings Apple Distinguished Schools to RGS Worcester
Pupils from The RGS Worcester Family of Schools showcased their leadership in digital innovation, sharing their experiences with school leaders and educators from around the world at a global education summit hosted at RGS Worcester.
Pupils aged 11 to 18 years rom RGS The Grange, RGS Dodderhill and RGS Worcester presented to international delegates attending the Apple Distinguished Schools Global Summit, demonstrating how young people can play an active role in shaping digital learning within their schools.
As part of a breakout session entitled ‘Empowered by Purpose: A Masterclass in Student-Led Innovation’, the pupils led delegates through the development of the Digital Leader and AI Programme across The RGS Worcester Family of Schools.
The pupils explored what it means to be a Digital Leader: how the role is structured, the creative tools they use, how they are technology pioneers and the skills they have developed through supporting pupils and staff.
Using practical examples from their own experience, they helped visiting school leaders consider how pupil digital leadership could be established in their own schools. The pupils also took questions from delegates and were interviewed about their experiences, giving international educators the opportunity to hear directly from the young people involved in the programme.
The summit also saw Mr John Jones, Director of Innovation at RGS Worcester, and Mr John Pitt, Headmaster of RGS Worcester, deliver keynote speeches to the 250 delegates.
Mr John Pitt said: “Hosting school leaders and educators from around the world at RGS Worcester was a tremendous privilege, and I was particularly proud to see our pupils sharing their knowledge and experience with delegates from every continent.
Our Digital Leaders demonstrated confidence, expertise and a genuine desire to help others as they answered challenging questions and helped delegates consider how they could take these ideas back to their own schools. It was also fantastic to have our musicians performing at the conference and delighting the delegates with their expertise, while Prefects in their gowns welcomed and guided delegates around the School site, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and to time.

The event brought together educators and school leaders from around the world to share ideas and explore approaches to innovation in education.
For the RGS pupils involved, it provided an extraordinary opportunity to share their knowledge and experience with an international audience and demonstrate their confidence, leadership and expertise.
