Supporting families from Ukraine hosted in Worcestershire
Following the successful fundraising and charity drive that three RGS team members took to the Ukraine / Romania border to provide essential items, The RGS Worcester Family of Schools are delighted to further extend their support to Ukrainian families in Worcestershire itself.
Last Friday RGS Worcester hosted an event at the School’s Flagge Meadow, to bring together the Ukrainian community now living locally along with their host families. Last week’s event was the first ‘get-together’ of its kind and the School welcomed 18 Ukrainian families and over 50 people to the event.
The community event aims to provide Ukrainian families from across the Worcestershire area and beyond the opportunity to have their own space where they can listen and connect with one other over a cup of tea and cake, with the aim of building a supportive community network in the area, during the current time.
Executive Headmaster, Mr John Pitt, said: “We arranged the community event as a way to support Ukrainian families new to the area and provide a meeting place for them to be able to connect – to meet up, share experiences and get a sense of the community around them. We will be running this event regularly for as long as it is needed and encourage other schools to do the same.”
The event will run every two weeks initially, with the next event planned for 27 May between 11.00am until 12.30pm. To register for the event, please follow the link to the RGS Worcester website with further details. https://www.rgsw.org.uk/rgs-family/community-working-in-worcestershire/
