Year Ten Musicians Shine in Teatime Concert
On Tuesday this week, Year Ten pupils delivered an excellent Teatime Concert in Perrins Hall. The afternoon featured a rich variety of performances, ranging from classical concertos to contemporary pop and musical theatre.
The concert showcased a strong contingent of vocalists who navigated a diverse repertoire. Musical Theatre was particularly well represented, with emotive performances from Mimi Paul performing ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ from Evita and Eva Davies singing ‘Maybe This Time’ from Cabaret. The audience also enjoyed Esme Ammonds’ rendition of ‘On My Own’ from Les Misérables and Immy Warne’s performance of ‘Still Hurting’ from The Last Five Years.
In addition to theatre styles, Amelia Morris opened the concert with the contemporary track ‘Nothing Matters’, while Lilah Morgan displayed impressive multitasking skills by performing Billy Joel’s ‘Piano Man’ on both voice and piano. Seb Clarke added a classical touch to the vocal programme with a performance of Gabriel Fauré’s ‘Après un rêve’.
Instrumentalists provided equally confident performances. The string section featured Lilia Parker playing ‘A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square’ and Olivia Anderson-Cruz performing ‘The Legend of Ashitaka’ on the violin. Nicole Penlington also performed on the violin with Elgar’s gentle ‘Chanson de Matin’, while cellist Finlay Hilton played Tchaikovsky’s ‘Andante Cantabile’.
The programme was rounded out by talented brass, woodwind and piano soloists. Reuben Colclough performed the Andante from Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major and Isabella Gabriel played a spirited Rondo from Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in B-flat major. Darcie Jackson-Adams offered a creative piano medley featuring various tracks such as ‘Fourth of July’ and ‘Hallelujah’.
It was wonderful to see such a rich array of Music performed just by one Year group.
We would like to congratulate all the Year Ten pupils for their hard work and for providing such an enjoyable afternoon of music.
Mr J Conway, Director of Music
