‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ Takes Shape as Rehearsals Begin
Rehearsals are now well underway for the next RGS Worcester Drama production, ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’, following the success of last term’s performances of ‘The Band’. Excitement has been building since October, when Mr Garrity announced this year’s production. Auditions have since taken place, roles have been cast and the pupils are now fully immersed in the rehearsal process.
Set in 1960s Brighton, ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ follows the mishaps of Francis Henshall, who finds himself simultaneously employed by two different bosses. As he attempts to keep each one in the dark, chaos ensues in a fast-paced comedy filled with physical humour, sharp wit and farcical twists. Written by Richard Bean, the play is a modern English adaptation of Carlo Goldoni’s ‘The Servant of Two Masters’, offering both comic challenge and rich opportunities for ensemble performance.
Speaking about the rehearsals, Mr Garrity said: “I’m a huge fan of One Man, Two Guvnors. The comedic and physical nature of the text offers an incredible challenge and I know our pupils will rise to it brilliantly.”
Performances will take place on Monday 16, Wednesday 18, Thursday 19 and Friday 20 March 2026 in the Performing Arts Theatre.
Looking ahead, excitement is already building for the Summer production of ‘The Hobbit’, which follows the incredible performances of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ last year. Also, fast approaching is the reveal of the next Senior Musical, which will be performed in November. Pupils currently in Years Nine to Lower Sixth who would like to be involved, whether on stage or as part of the production team, are encouraged to come along to the Senior Musical reveal on Monday 26 January at 1.20pm in the Performing Arts Centre.
