RGS Public Speakers Progress to ESU Regional Finals
RGS Worcester pupils demonstrated confidence, clarity and exceptional teamwork as they competed in the Second Heat of the English-Speaking Union Public Speaking Competition, securing a place in the Regional Finals later this term. Facing strong opposition, pupils impressed judges with their articulate delivery, perceptive questioning and assured chairing throughout the evening.
On Tuesday last week, pupils competed against strong opposition, demonstrating confidence, clear thinking and effective teamwork throughout the evening.
The Senior Public Speaking A Team delivered a strong performance and secured a place in the Regional Finals, which will take place later this term. Year Eleven pupil Ridhima Canchi delivered a thoughtful and articulate speech, Cameron Henry impressed with his perceptive and probing questions and Henry Jarvis chaired the proceedings with confidence and authority.
The judges praised the team’s rhetorical skills and their ability to engage thoughtfully with both the topic and the audience. The Middle Public Speaking B Team also competed on the evening, building on their success in the First Heat and gaining valuable experience. Although Year Ten pupils Michael McCabe, Amy Higgins and Xavier Veasey did not progress to the next round on this occasion, their commitment and development in public speaking were clear.
Congratulations to all pupils involved, and good luck to Ridhima, Cameron and Henry as they prepare for the Regional Finals.
