National Success for Under 15 and Under 13 Hockey Teams
RGS Worcester Hockey has enjoyed an excellent run in this season’s Independent Schools Hockey Cup, with both the Under 15 and Under 13 teams progressing strongly through the competition.
The Under 15 team produced a composed and disciplined performance to secure a 2-0 victory against Kirkham Grammar School in the fourth round. The result reflected the team’s organisation, resilience and ability to control the game at a crucial stage of the competition. The victory earns the team a place in the quarter-finals of the National Cup competition in which they will be hosting Yarm School.
The Under 13 team have also impressed, earning their place at National Finals Day following a series of confident performances. Strong results in earlier rounds highlighted the team’s attacking intent and growing tactical understanding. In the quarter-final against Bedford Girls’ School, after conceding a goal early, the girls responded with determination and composure to claim a convincing 6-1 win. The team has scored 35 goals in just 5 matches, conceding only 10. The semi-final and final of the Plate competition will be held on National Finals Day on 10 February.
These achievements reflect the strength and depth of the Hockey programme at RGS Worcester, which provides pupils with regular opportunities to compete at a high level while continuing to develop their technical skills and game awareness. Headmaster, John Pitt commented: “To see both our Under 15s and Under 13s progressing so strongly in the ISHL national competition is hugely impressive and reflects the commitment of the pupils and the expertise of our dedicated coaches. Good luck to the players and staff for the finals!”
We wish both teams every success as they continue their progress in the Independent Schools Hockey Cup.
