Lower Sixth Art Students Explore Worcester
As part of their ‘City Life’ project, the Lower Sixth Art students recently embarked on a site visit to Worcester, immersing themselves in the city’s vibrant mix of architecture, culture, and atmosphere. The visit encouraged pupils to look beyond the obvious and discover inspiration in the overlooked – the texture of a weathered wall, the geometry of modern structures, or the interplay of light and shadow in hidden courtyards.
Throughout the day, students took part in a photo walk, creating a rich bank of visual references through photography, sketches, and observational drawings. They explored key local landmarks, taking time to reflect on Worcester’s unique character and sense of place. A particular highlight was their visit to Worcester Cathedral, where the grandeur of the space and the intricate architectural details provided a powerful source of creative inspiration.
Head of Art, Miss Liversidge said: “The site visit to Worcester provided our students with an invaluable opportunity to engage with their surroundings in a new and meaningful way. It was wonderful to see their creativity sparked by the details and atmosphere of the city – this experience will no doubt enrich their upcoming project work.”
The visit deepened students’ understanding of urban environments and also encouraged them to approach their own creative process with renewed curiosity and confidence.
