Casting Begins for Senior Production of ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’
On 15 October, Mr Garrity announced this year’s Senior Play: ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’. More than 60 enthusiastic pupils gathered to discover the chosen production and signed up to the Showbie group to secure their audition slots.
Set in 1960s Brighton, ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ tells the story of Francis Henshall, who accidentally becomes employed by two different bosses at the same time. Determined to keep each unaware of the other, he launches himself into a whirlwind of confusion, physical humour and fast-paced farce. Written by Richard Bean, the play is a modern English adaptation of Carlo Goldoni’s classic Italian comedy ‘The Servant of Two Masters’.
Sharing his excitement, Mr Garrity said: “I’m a huge fan of ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’. The comedic and physical nature of the text offers an incredible challenge, and I know our pupils will rise to it brilliantly.”
Auditions for acting roles will take place on Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 December, with further opportunities available for pupils interested in technical, design and backstage roles. With the play featuring a relatively small cast, the production will be double-cast to give even more pupils the chance to take part.
Performances will take place on Monday 16, Wednesday 18, Thursday 19 and Friday 20 March 2026.
