DT Students Explore Robotic Engineering and Automation at Mazak HQ
On Tuesday 4 November, Mr Batchelder and Mrs Bousfield accompanied the Upper Sixth Design Technology students on a visit to Yamazaki Mazak in Worcester. Mazak is a global leader in advanced manufacturing equipment, producing machinery used to create everything from F1 components and medical implants to domestic boilers.
The group benefitted greatly from the School’s close relationship with the company. Students were introduced to the breadth of work undertaken at Mazak before embarking on an engaging and informative tour of the factory. Many were struck by the scale and complexity of modern manufacturing, witnessing robotic cells in operation, automated storage and retrieval systems, and the highly specialised processes involved in precision engineering.
The visit offered valuable real-world context for several areas of their A-level studies and provided a clear insight into the wide range of career pathways within engineering, design, and manufacturing. We are grateful to Mazak for welcoming our students and for offering such a meaningful educational experience.
