Impressive Week for RGS Worcester at Rosslyn Park Sevens
RGS Worcester enjoyed a highly successful week at the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens Tournament, with multiple age groups delivering outstanding performances against some of the strongest schools in the country.
The Under 18 squad produced an impressive run across the opening two days of the competition. They progressed confidently through their group on Day 1, securing a 33-17 victory over St Ambrose College in the elimination round. Carrying this momentum forward, they once again topped their group on Day 2 with a series of high-quality performances, recording notable wins against Glenalmond College, Reading Bluecoat School and Haverfordwest High School. Their efforts saw them reach the national quarter-finals, where they were narrowly defeated 19-17 in a closely contested match.
The Under 14 side matched this success with an equally strong tournament performance. Competing in a field of over 250 schools, they demonstrated resilience and attacking quality throughout, achieving impressive victories over Trinity School Croydon, Ipswich School, Hampton School and Dulwich College. Their campaign also concluded at the quarter-final stage, where they were edged out 17-14 by Collegiate School in another closely fought match.
There were also positive contributions across other age groups, with the Under 16s, Girls’ Under 18 team and Under 13s all performing strongly. Across the week, the teams recorded an impressive total of 17 wins.
Pupils represented the School with commitment, determination and excellent sportsmanship. Reaching the quarter-final stages across multiple age groups is a significant achievement at a national level and all involved should be extremely proud of their efforts.
