Book Hunts, Quizzes and Creativity for World Book Day
Yesterday, pupils across RGS Worcester celebrated World Book Day with a full programme of Library-led activities designed to promote reading and creativity across the School.
A packed schedule of events encouraged pupils of all ages to engage with books in imaginative ways. One of the highlights was a school-wide Book Hide and Seek, with wrapped books hidden across the School for pupils to discover and keep, creating excitement throughout the day and encouraging pupils to explore new titles.
The celebrations also extended beyond the School community as RGS Springfield Nursery visited during morning break for a special Buddy Reading session. Nursery children, many dressed as their favourite characters, were welcomed by RGS Pupil Librarians, who shared stories and helped inspire an early love of reading.
Competition was equally lively during the Library House Quiz at lunchtime, while the Year Seven Interform Quiz in Eld Hall saw teams test their literary knowledge and quick thinking.
Alongside the day’s events, pupils have also been taking part in a range of activities throughout the week. The Lower School Poetry Competition invited young writers to showcase their creativity, while the Big Book Swap encouraged pupils to give pre-loved books a new home and refresh their personal collections.
The celebrations will continue next week with a visit from acclaimed author Tamsin Winter on Tuesday 10 March. During her visit, she will deliver an assembly for Year Seven pupils before leading a creative writing workshop for Year Seven and Eight Pupil Librarians. The winner of the Lower School Poetry Competition will also be announced.
Together, these events highlight the importance of reading at RGS Worcester and celebrate the enjoyment of books across the School community.
