A Classic Farewell
We say good-bye today to Emily Binner, Classics and Latin teacher, after almost seven years at RGS. We wish Emily all the very best for an exciting future ahead. Emily is planning to move to the USA with her husband, which was supposed to happen last summer but was delayed by the pandemic. As a consequence, RGS pupils have benefited from her expertise as a teacher for longer than expected.
During her time at RGS, Emily has been Senior House Leader and was also House Leader for Whiteladies. Her competitive nature spurred Whiteladies on to considerable success with a second place in the annual competition and then winning the House trophy twice under her leadership.
Mr Thom Russell, Head of Latin and Classics, commented, “Emily’s positivity and her exciting, enthralling lessons engaged her pupils with the Classical world, and helped them along to some outstanding academic outcomes during her time at RGS. Her students will miss her enthusiasm and infectious love for her subject – especially studying Cicero; her colleagues will miss her unflappability, her candour, and her good humour. We wish her all the very best for her move to America.”
Emily will be greatly missed and has inspired many RGS Classicists. We wish her all the very best for the future and hope that she will keep in contact with us at RGS.
