Hockey Stars! RGS pupils selected for National Squads
We are delighted to announce that two RGS Pupils have been selected to represent National teams in Hockey. Year Eleven pupil Alice Atkinson has been selected for the England Under 18 squad and Lower Sixth student Amelia Lane has been selected for the Wales Under 18 squad. This is a superb achievement – to have not one, but two international Hockey players here at RGS!
In addition to the success of Alice and Amelia, RGS pupils Theodora Hall and Teyah Farmer have also been selected for the Under 16 Junior Regional Performance Centre. Ellie Nicholls, Year Eleven, plays at the Under 17 Performance Centre and Caitlin Lane has been chosen to be part of the Wales Under 16 training squad.
Head of Hockey, Miss Leanne Bennett, congratulated the girls: “I am delighted that Alice and Amelia have been selected to represent their country in the Under 18 National England and Welsh squads. The girls have worked incredibly hard to reach this high level in Hockey and this is a well-deserved and exciting opportunity for them both to play alongside some of the country’s most promising young Hockey players. Congratulations must go to Ellie, Theodora, Teyah and Caitlin on their achievements too. It is exciting to see these young players developing their skills, especially as we look forward to the new Worcester International Hockey Centre opening later this year, which will provide the future athletes a world-class pitch on which to train, and the potential of even more promising hopefuls for national and international teams.”
