Year Nine Textiles Pupils Find Fashion Inspiration at The Hive
Year Nine Textiles pupils recently visited The Hive in Worcester to gather inspiration for their ‘Architecture in Fashion’ design project, exploring how architectural features can influence fashion and textile design.
During the visit, pupils photographed and sketched the building’s distinctive architecture, focusing on perspective, patterns and textures to develop ideas for their own creative work.
Back in the classroom, pupils have built upon their research by experimenting with metallic fabrics and stitching techniques, creating textile samples inspired by their photographs and sketches. These have been carefully presented in their sketchbooks, documenting the development of their ideas and practical skills.
The project will now progress to the design and creation of a skirt or pair of fashion shorts, incorporating elements of their architectural research and the techniques explored so far.
The work will also contribute towards pupils achieving their Bronze Arts Award, accredited by Trinity College London, providing an opportunity to develop their creativity, technical skills and confidence in Fashion and Textiles.
We look forward to seeing how pupils transform their architectural inspiration into their finished designs!
