RGS Worcester Highly Commended at National Independent School Awards
RGS Worcester has been Highly Commended in the Co-educational Independent School of the Year category at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2026.
The School was the only finalist to receive a Highly Commended distinction in the category, which was won by Wellington College. Fellow finalists included Brighton College, Sevenoaks School, Ashford School, Leighton Park School and Ardvreck School. The judges listed RGS Worcester as a winner on their website.
The recognition followed RGS Worcester’s success at the Tes Schools Awards earlier this year, where it was named Independent Senior School of the Year 2026, bringing further national recognition to education in Worcester.
RGS Worcester combines academic excellence with strong pastoral support, extensive sporting and co-curricular opportunities, and an established Digital Learning & AI Programme. RGS’s approach to education gives pupils opportunities to develop their confidence, explore their interests and prepare for life beyond school.
Mr John Pitt, Headmaster of RGS Worcester, said: “We are delighted to receive this national recognition alongside such an exceptional group of schools. To be the only school Highly Commended in this category is an achievement of which our whole school community can be immensely proud.
Academic achievement is hugely important as are the opportunities and experiences that help pupils discover their strengths and develop their skills. This recognition reflects the breadth of education RGS provides.
Following our Tes award earlier this year, it is wonderful to celebrate another national achievement here in Worcester. I would like to thank our dedicated staff, enthusiastic pupils and supportive families, who all contribute so much to school life.”
The latest recognition continued a successful year for RGS Worcester, which also celebrated the opening of its Mahjoor Innovation Centre and renewed recognition as an Apple Distinguished School.
