House Spirit Shines in 362 Competition

The House 362 competition returned for its third year, bringing together Sixth Form students and staff for another lively afternoon of House competition around the School.

There was an excellent turnout from both the Lower and Upper Sixth, with all four Houses represented. In total, 15 Sixth Form students and nine members of staff took part, supported by plenty of encouragement from pupils and colleagues around the course.

The race is very unusual in that the course goes right  through the heart of the School, causing pupils and staff to stop and wait for competitors as they complete the full 362 metre circuit which culminates in a grandstand finish in the Quad. Competitors set off at intervals and pupils and staff cheer them on around the course as the athletes cope with different running surfaces and some tight corners. The whole atmosphere is one of celebration as everyone appreciates the efforts made by the runners for their Houses.

Elgar delivered a particularly strong performance, securing victory in both Sixth Form categories. Upper Sixth student Nana was the first female home in an impressive time of 1 minute 8.19 seconds, while Upper Sixth student Charlie claimed the male student category with an excellent time of 50.43 seconds.

Staff also embraced the challenge, with House Leader of Whiteladies, Miss Morris, leading from the front to secure the female staff title. Mr Baker completed the individual winners, taking victory in the male staff race for Wylde.

The House 362 continues to provide an enjoyable opportunity for Sixth Form students and staff to compete alongside one another while earning valuable points for their Houses. Congratulations to all who took part and to this year’s winners.
