A Taste of Sixth Form Life for Year Ten
On Wednesday, Year Ten pupils had the opportunity to become ‘Sixth Formers for a Day’, experiencing life in the Sixth Form through taster lessons, new subject choices and time spent in Gordon House, the School’s dedicated Sixth Form Centre and Joe’s, the Sixth Form café.
The day provided valuable insight into how A Level, BTEC and CTEC studies differ from GCSE courses, while giving pupils a flavour of the breadth of opportunity and support available in the Sixth Form at RGS Worcester. Pupils were also able to learn more about the wide range of Co-curricular opportunities on offer, alongside the School’s award-winning Careers guidance.
Throughout the day, pupils attended lessons in subjects available in the Sixth Form, including Business, Economics, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics, BTEC National Diploma in Sport and CTEC Business. These sessions helped pupils to understand what each course involves and to begin thinking carefully about the subjects they may wish to study in greater depth.
There was also information about the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is worth half an A Level and introduces students to research-based study similar to that undertaken at University.
With so many subjects to choose from and a breadth of opportunity ahead, pupils were excited by the prospect of choosing the subjects they enjoy and exploring them in greater depth in the Sixth Form. To find out more about Sixth Form at RGS Worcester, please click here.
