Problem-Solving Success in Junior Mathematics Challenge
Our Years Seven and Eight mathematicians have achieved another excellent set of results in this year’s Junior Mathematics Challenge. This annual competition continues to be a fantastic way to develop the problem-solving skills of pupils, with this year’s paper once again featuring an eclectic mix of questions involving cakes, frogs, snakes and even calculating how many times the clock on Salisbury Cathedral has struck since 1956, all completed using only pen and paper.
RGS Worcester pupils demonstrated impressive mathematical knowledge and reasoning throughout, achieving a total of 81 certificates, including 22 at the highest Gold level.
A special mention goes to Year Eight pupils Noah and Rupert who were the School’s top performers with outstanding scores of 101 and 100 out of 135 respectively. In Year Seven, Shona, Ffion and Joseph were the highest-scoring pupils in the Year Group, each achieving 84.
These excellent results reflect the pupils’ enthusiasm for problem-solving and mathematical thinking. Congratulations to all involved.
