Young Musicians Final
We are thrilled that two of our Music Scholars are competing in the Final of the 2020 Bromsgrove Young Musicians Platform on Sunday. Sasha Penlington, Year Eight, will be competing in the Junior category on the piano, performing Bach’s ‘Prelude and Fugue in Bb Major’, Chopin’s ‘”Black Key” Etude’ and Debussy’s ‘Jardins Sous La Pluie’. Isabella Hulbert, Lower Sixth, will be competing as a singer in the Senior age group; she will perform ‘The Singer’ by Michael Head, Puccini’s ‘Chi il bel sogno di Doretta’ and ‘The Girl in 14G’ by Jeanine Tesori. Both students made it through an initial round of auditions in the spring, with Sunday’s Final being rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and featuring only four students per category.
This prestigious competition is open to young musicians from across the West Midlands and the Final takes place in the Routh Concert Hall at Bromsgrove School, adjudicated by a panel of highly-regarded professional musicians.
We wish Bella and Sasha the very best for Sunday and offer them our sincere congratulations for reaching this Finals stage of the competition.
Mr Jonathan Soman, Director of Music
