There’s a Buzz around School: House Spelling Bee
On Monday 10 May the inaugural House Spelling Bee event was held. Pupils in Years Seven, Eight and Nine were invited to display their spelling prowess and tackle 30 spellings compiled by departments from across the School. Year Seven pupils battled it out in the Performing Arts Centre under the intense spotlights. Year Eight contestants made use of the Lecture Theatre and the Year Nine participants were spelling out their words in Eld Hall.
Hosted by the RGS Literary Society, Lower Sixth Society members dutifully presented and judged the event in each venue and were impressed by all of the participants. With a slight twist on the original Spelling Bee format, pupils made use of the Digital Learning Programme and presented their spellings via the Sketches School app. Each location was a hive of activity and LitSoc and the House Team thank all pupils for their spelling skills and look forward to next year’s event.
