Stepping Back in Time at the Roman Baths
Last Wednesday, Year Ten Classics and Latin pupils enjoyed an educational visit to the Roman Baths. RGS Pupil Grace Farmer reflects on the experience below:
“As a Year Ten student studying Classics and Latin, I was lucky enough to go on a trip to Bath to visit the Roman Baths. It was a really enjoyable and interesting day that helped to develop our understanding of Roman city life.
We began with an audio tour of the Roman Baths, which explained how the Romans used the baths and why they were such an important part of Roman society. I found it fascinating to see the remains up close, rather than just learning about them in class. We also took part in a lesson on Roman tombstones and altars, which showed us how the Romans remembered the dead and honoured their gods.
After visiting the Roman Baths, we were given some free time to explore the city of Bath in small groups. This was a great opportunity to look around the city and enjoy its atmosphere.
Overall, it was a lovely trip for Year Ten and a memorable experience that was both educational and fun.”
