RGS Round-Up: Celebrating Success Across Our Community
We are delighted to share a selection of recent pupil achievements, showcasing the breadth of talent, dedication and success within the RGS community.
Oliver Selected for the JPL Midlands All-Stars Team
We are pleased to share the exciting news that Oliver Mezzone has been selected for the Midlands Under 13 Junior Premier League (JPL) All-Stars Team for the 2025/26 season. His invitation to trial followed his strong performances within the Worcester City main academy squad.
Oliver competed against some of the most talented young footballers in the region and secured his place in a programme recognised as the highest standard of youth Football outside the professional academy system. The All-Stars pathway includes training and fixtures against Category 1-3 academy teams, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Southampton and Manchester United, as well as regional training camps, a national showcase event and a European development tour. Previous squads have visited iconic academies such as Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona’s La Masia.
It has been a demanding year for Oliver at times, making this achievement particularly gratifying. His resilience and dedication have shone through and we are delighted to celebrate this well-deserved recognition!
Harrison Makes His National League Debut
Congratulations to Year Nine pupil Harrison Pritchard, who made his National Hockey League debut for Stourport Hockey Club on Saturday 29 November, a fantastic achievement at just 13 years old.
Harrison took to the pitch against one of the strongest teams in the league, Nottingham University and contributed to an impressive 1-1 draw. This debut comes shortly after another significant accomplishment: his selection for the UK Lions squad over the summer.
This is a superb achievement for Harrison, and we are incredibly proud of his continued hard work and determination.
Katie Represents Worcestershire in Inter-County Cross Country
Well done to Year Eight pupil Katie Harte, who represented both RGS and Worcestershire at the prestigious Dave Sunderland Inter-Counties Cross Country Competition at Himley Hall, Dudley. Competing against athletes from nine counties, Katie delivered an excellent performance in the Under 15 race, which included runners from Years Eight and Nine.
Although the official results have not yet been published, Katie is believed to have finished an impressive 23rd overall. This is a strong result in a highly competitive field and we commend Katie for her commitment to the sport and her determination on the day.
