RGS Make Their Mark at Sedbergh 10s
RGS Worcester made a strong debut at the Sedbergh National 10s at the start of the Easter holiday as one of only two Schools invited to join this established event, taking on some of the strongest school Rugby sides in the country.
Held at Sedbergh School, the tournament brought together 18 leading schools. Drawn in a tough pool alongside Brighton College, Kirkham Grammar School, Stamford, Hurstpierpoint College and Felsted, RGS Worcester faced a demanding opening day against well-established opposition.
The 10-a-side format, with its quicker pace and tightly scheduled fixtures, presented a new challenge. Pupils adapted well, showing resilience and a real willingness to compete, while gaining valuable experience across the day.
Conditions added to the test, with periods of heavy rain making handling and footing difficult. Pupils responded well, staying focused and continuing to work hard for one another in challenging circumstances.
On the second day, RGS Worcester competed in the Plate competition, facing further strong opposition, including RGS High Wycombe, who went on to win the Plate.
This first appearance at the Sedbergh National 10s marks an encouraging step for Rugby at RGS Worcester, with pupils gaining valuable experience in a demanding national competition. Younger Year groups will enjoy the opportunity to extend their Rugby season by competing at the Sedbergh 10s in the future.
Well done to all of the students involved for their commitment and determination across the two days.
Mr R Lewis, Head of Rugby
