Record-Breaking Week for Ellie at the Deaf Swimming World Championships
Lower Sixth student Ellie Graham has enjoyed an exceptional week representing Great Britain at the Deaf Swimming World Championships in Tokyo, achieving a series of remarkable results on the international stage. Ellie’s selection for Team GB is a tremendous accomplishment in itself, reflecting her dedication to Swimming since joining Worcester Swimming Club in 2018 and her impressive progression with GB Deaf Swimming following her cochlear implant surgery in 2023.
Ellie delivered outstanding performances throughout the Championships. She recorded a new Personal Best in the 50m Freestyle and produced confident swims across all her Breaststroke events. A standout highlight came in the Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay, where Ellie and her teammates broke the GB Deaf Swimming Record which had been in place since 2015, an extraordinary achievement and a moment of real pride for the whole team.
The success continued in the Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay. Team GB stormed to first place in the Preliminary round with an exhilarating performance and went on to secure a brilliant Silver medal in the Finals, bringing Ellie’s Championship campaign to a superb close.
We are delighted to celebrate Ellie’s achievements and the dedication that has taken her to this level of competition. Everyone at RGS Worcester is immensely proud of her success in Tokyo and looks forward to hearing more about her experience and future ambitions in the pool.
