Record-Breaking Appearance for Year Ten pupil Max
We are delighted to congratulate Year Ten pupil Max Pearce on a remarkable Football achievement after making history in the FA Youth Cup while representing Birmingham City Academy. At just 14 years old, Max became one of the two youngest goalkeepers ever to feature in the competition.
Max played for the Under 18 Birmingham City team in their third-round tie against Coventry City at the Coventry Building Society Arena in front of a crowd of nearly 1,000 spectators. Coming off the bench after the dismissal of the starting goalkeeper early in the game, Max produced a composed and assured performance, making an excellent low save to prevent the home side from extending their lead. His appearance was widely recognised by the club and on social media, with Birmingham City Academy confirming that Max and teammate Alfie Smith had become the youngest goalkeepers in FA Youth Cup history.
Although the match ended in defeat for the Birmingham City team, the occasion marked an important moment in Max’s development, offering valuable experience of competitive Football at a professional venue. This achievement is a testament to Max’s talent, dedication and maturity beyond his years, and we are extremely proud to see him representing both his club and RGS Worcester with such distinction.
