National Series Success for Year Eight Sailor
Year Eight pupil Jake has secured the ITCA 4.2 National Series title following an outstanding season on the national sailing circuit. The series brings together some of the country’s leading young sailors, with competitors travelling to events held across the UK.
Having trained throughout the winter with both the National Performance Squad and the Draycote Academy Squad, Jake secured the overall National Series title with one event still remaining in the five-race series. His campaign included victory at the opening event at Draycote Water, fourth place finishes at Weymouth and Rutland, and another first-place finish at Hayling Island, which was enough to secure the championship. Jake concluded the series with a third-place finish at the final event at Grafham Water.
Alongside winning the overall ITCA 4.2 National Series, Jake also secured first place in the Under 14 category and finished as the leading male sailor in the competition.
This latest success continues a remarkable period of progress for Jake, who was selected for the National 4.2 Performance Squad last year and has consistently performed at the highest level of junior sailing competition.
Following his National Series victory, Jake will now represent Great Britain at the ITCA 4.2 World Championships in Quiberon, France, during the summer holidays.
Congratulations to Jake on this outstanding national achievement. We wish him the very best at the World Championships this summer.
