Music, Musicals and Movie Themes at Year Seven Teatime Concert
Last Thursday, Year Seven pupils performed in Main Hall for the latest Teatime Concert, presenting an enjoyable and varied afternoon of Music to parents, staff and pupils.
The concert featured a wide range of musical styles, from contemporary pop and film music to well-loved musical theatre numbers, with pupils performing confidently throughout. The afternoon reflected both the enthusiasm developing within Year Seven Music and the willingness of pupils to step forward and perform in front of an audience.
Vocal performances included Esther Gorman singing Adele’s Easy on Me, while Alice Morrissey and Phoebe Young performed A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman. Musical theatre featured strongly throughout the programme, with Annie Kent performing Heart of Stone from SIX, Iona Laidler singing Memory from Cats and Maia Goold closing the concert with On My Own from Les Misérables.
Instrumental performances added further variety to the programme. Heidi Laugharne performed the Wallace and Gromit Theme on piano, Alice Pullen gave a confident clarinet performance of Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter and Giorgio De Fano performed Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud on piano.
There were also enjoyable duet performances from Phoebe Illingworth and Mabel Edwards singing First Burn from Hamilton, alongside Lyra Hayward and Iona Laidler performing What Is This Feeling? from Wicked.
The concert provided a lovely opportunity for pupils to share the progress they have made this year and it was clear to see the support and encouragement pupils showed one another throughout the afternoon.
Well done to all Year Seven pupils involved for delivering such an enjoyable concert and thank you to the Music Department.
