Henley Victory & GB Silver for Former Pupil
Former RGS Worcester pupil Zara Povey has enjoyed an outstanding summer of Rowing, following victory at Henley Royal Regatta with selection for the Great Britain Under 23 Rowing team and a Silver medal at the World Championships.
Representing Reading University Boat Club, Zara was part of the crew that secured the Queen Victoria Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta, an exceptional achievement which marked Reading University Boat Club’s first Henley Royal Regatta victory in 40 years.
Her impressive performances were subsequently recognised with selection for the Great Britain Under 23 team, where she competed in the Women’s Quadruple Scull at the World Championships. Zara and her teammates produced an excellent series of performances to secure the Silver medal for Great Britain.
Zara’s progression from School Rowing to success at University, Henley Royal Regatta and now international level represents an outstanding sporting journey and another proud achievement for an Old Elizabethan.
Congratulations to Zara on an exceptional summer. We look forward to following her continued progress and celebrating her future successes on the water.
