England ISFA Tournament Triumph for George and Josh
Year Nine pupils George and Josh recently represented the ISFA England Under 13/14 team at the Sliding Tackle Festival of Football, a two-day residential tournament at Worksop College.
Despite hot and physically demanding conditions, England progressed unbeaten through the group stage, finishing top with 12 points after facing opposition including Academy sides from Doncaster Rovers and Notts County and a team from Norway.
In the semi-final, England faced Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt B. After a closely contested start, the team took control in the final 15 minutes to secure an impressive 6-3 victory and progress to the Final.
The Final against Connah’s Quay proved equally dramatic. England took an early 1-0 lead before the Welsh side equalised from the penalty spot in the final five minutes, sending the match to a shootout. With the scores level after five penalties each, England held their nerve in sudden death to secure the tournament trophy.
George and Josh also represented RGS Worcester impeccably throughout the weekend, with the England coaching team praising their conduct and attitude.
Congratulations to George and Josh on an excellent representative achievement and a memorable tournament victory.
