Celebrating Senior Netball
On Wednesday 29 March we celebrated Netball at RGS with the Senior Girls’ Netball Dinner. As the season came to a close in the Lent term, the Netball Dinner provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate the success of the season.
Pupils from Year Nine to the Upper Sixth dressed glamorously for the occasion and were treated to a wonderful three course meal provided by our expert catering team. The evening was also an opportunity to say a fond farewell to Head of Netball, Miss Ellie Gibbons. Pupils thanked her for her positive contributions to the School both as an Academic PE teacher and as Head of Netball, wishing her every success in her new role and in her Netball journey with Super League team Surrey Storm.
Also present for the evening celebration was Sigi Burger, the guest speaker for the Netball Dinner. Sigi is a South African Netball player who plays in the position of goal shooter. She was part of the South African squad playing in the 2019 Netball World Cup. Sigi spoke incredibly well and was an inspiring role model for our girls.
Director of Sport, Mr Keith Fowles commented, “It was a fantastic evening to celebrate Girls’ Netball and Miss Gibbons’ contribution to Netball at RGS Worcester. The evening was a great occasion to mark the success of the Netball season this year. The Netball programme continues to develop from strength to strength as do our players. We have seen some incredible success in Netball this season and I look forward to seeing our players continue to develop next year”.
Our thanks go to everyone who attended the event, making it a thoroughly enjoyable evening. A special thank you to our Netball coaches, teaching staff, support staff and catering team for providing an excellent meal, worthy of the occasion. Thanks must also go to our guest speaker for the evening.
