Oarsport Junior Sculling Head
The Year Ten rowers visited Eton Dorney for the Oarsport Junior Sculling Head. The backdrop of the Olympic rings provided the perfect setting for the rowers to experience their first event on an international standard course. It was very busy at the venue with around 3,000 rowers taking part.
Three RGS Worcester crews raced on the 3600 m course which was divided into two 1800m time trials. Their times were then added together to give their result.
The Open Junior 15 Coxed Quadruple Scull of Will Cartwright, Archie Palmer, Jack McMurray and James Ford coxed by Arran Niccol achieved 47th place out of 61. In the same event Freddie Fielding, Will Simpson, Harry Moore and Jacob Hartley coxed by Conall Williams, achieved 42nd. Both performances were impressive given the standard of the crews attending.
The Women’s Junior 15 Coxed Quadruple Scull of Isabella Coventry, Rosie Guild, Martha Colclough and Lottie Richardson coxed by Bethany Jennings achieved 23rd place out of 77 crews. This was a brilliant result for the crew. They were the fastest crew from the West Midlands in the event.
