Summer Cricket Success for RGS Players
RGS Worcester pupils enjoyed an excellent summer of Cricket, achieving success at county, regional, national and international level while representing clubs and representative sides.
Year Eleven pupils Jay and Will, alongside Year Ten pupils Zayaan and Moin, were part of the Ombersley Cricket Club Under 15 side that enjoyed an outstanding season. The team were crowned Worcestershire 100-ball County League champions following the Finals at New Road, where they faced Quatt Cricket Club.
Their success continued in the T20 competition, with Ombersley becoming Worcestershire champions before progressing to the Regional Finals at Leamington Spa, where they secured another victory. The team subsequently reached the National Semi-Finals in Barnsley, narrowly missing out on the opportunity to progress to the National Final at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
There was further success for Lower Sixth student Anya, who represented the Worcestershire County Under 16 team during a busy summer. She was also part of the Astwood Bank Under 19 side that became National Champions, represented Ombersley Cricket Club Boys’ team and was selected for the Herefordshire County Women’s team. Anya’s achievements followed an excellent year at RGS, which also saw her achieve five Grade 9s and three Grade 8s in her GCSE examinations.
Upper Sixth student and RGS Cricket Captain Kat also enjoyed international success, representing Spain at a Cricket tournament in Switzerland. Kat opened the batting in the final three matches, producing a standout unbeaten innings of 88 alongside successful contributions with the ball and several excellent catches. Kat was appointed Girls’ Cricket Captain for the 2026-27 academic year in recognition of her commitment and contribution to the Sport.
Congratulations to Jay, Will, Zayaan, Moin, Anya and Kat on an excellent summer of Cricket and their achievements representing their clubs, counties and countries.
