Graduation Evening Celebrates the Class of 2026
On Thursday evening, Upper Sixth students and their families gathered in Perrins Hall for the Upper Sixth Graduation Ceremony, celebrating the achievements and contributions of the Class of 2026 and marking their transition from RGS students to Old Elizabethans.
The evening began with Upper Sixth student Sasha performing a selection of piano pieces as parents and guests arrived, before a welcome from Chair of Governors, Mr Andrew Greenway. Certificates and Prizes were then presented by Head of Sixth Form, Mr Mark Evetts, recognising the many ways in which students have contributed to School life throughout their time at RGS Worcester.
This year’s Guest of Honour was Miss Amy Murphy, an Old Elizabethan who began her education at RGS Springfield before attending RGS Worcester from 2012 to 2019. During her time at RGS, Amy was an Academic and Design Technology Scholar, Captain of the Greenpower Racing Team and a member of the successful Jaguar Land Rover 4×4 In Schools teams. She went on to achieve a First Class Honours degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham and now works for the Atlassian Williams Racing Formula 1 Team as an Aerodynamics Production Planner with the Model Shop team. Her return to RGS offered students an inspiring example of how interests and opportunities developed at School can lead to exciting and highly specialised career pathways.
The School Captains proposed the Vote of Thanks before Headmaster, Mr John Pitt, closed the ceremony with reflections on a Year group that has contributed so much across Academic life, Music, Drama, Sport, Debating, Model United Nations, service and leadership. He praised the students for their calm assurance, quiet confidence and kindness, noting the way they have supported one another and encouraged each other to be the best they can be.
Headmaster, Mr John Pitt, said: “We are very proud to welcome the Class of 2026 into the Old Elizabethans (alumni) community. This Year group has contributed so much to RGS, achieving highly in so many areas while doing so with leadership, teamwork, enthusiasm and genuine kindness. They have pushed themselves beyond their comfort zones, supported one another and shown the quiet confidence and character that make them such excellent ambassadors for the School. It has been a privilege to see them grow, and I have no doubt they will go on to achieve superb things while remaining true to themselves and to the values of RGS.”
The evening concluded with refreshments, giving students, families and staff the opportunity to celebrate together after the Public Examinations and look ahead to the future.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026. We look forward to seeing you all again on Results Day in August and to hearing about the many exciting paths you will take beyond RGS Worcester.
