A Morning of Music and Partnership at ‘Let’s Sing’
On Wednesday 10 June, RGS Worcester welcomed 174 children from five local primary schools to the Performing Arts Centre for this year’s ‘Let’s Sing’ Educational Partnerships event, a morning of singing, performance and collaboration.
Pupils from Red Hill CE Primary School, Whittington Church of England Primary School, Martley CE Primary School, Nunnery Wood Primary School and Northwick Manor Primary School came together to take part in the annual workshop, which aims to encourage confidence, collaboration and enjoyment through Music.
The morning began with a series of energetic warm-up activities led by Teacher of Music, Mrs Claire Tilling, and Ms Naomi Berry. Through movement, singing and imaginative exercises, pupils quickly built confidence and enthusiasm before beginning work on the day’s featured song, A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman.
A particular highlight of the event was a series of performances by Lower Sixth students, who showcased their musical talents and provided inspiration for the visiting pupils. The performances demonstrated the opportunities available through Music at RGS Worcester and helped to encourage the younger musicians as they prepared for their own performance.
Throughout the workshop, pupils worked together to learn and rehearse A Million Dreams, developing their singing skills while building confidence in performing as part of a larger group. By the end of the morning, they had developed a confident performance featuring two-part harmony and accompanying actions.
The event concluded with a final performance accompanied by Director of Music, Mr Jamie Conway, on piano and a Lower Sixth drummer. The result was a vibrant and uplifting celebration of Music, showcasing the enthusiasm, commitment and teamwork of all involved.
