The Silver Shoes Showcase Brings Oz to the Stage
Last Friday evening, pupils from RGS Worcester took to the stage for The Silver Shoes Dance Showcase, bringing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum to life through Dance.
Featuring pupils from Years Seven to Ten and the Lower Sixth, the production combined solos, trios, group and ensemble performances across a wide variety of Dance styles, including Ballet, Street, Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap and Musical Theatre. From energetic ensemble numbers to expressive lyrical performances, each piece helped bring the journey to Oz vividly to life on stage.
Pupils performed with confidence, commitment and impressive versatility throughout the evening, reflecting the hard work and dedication that had gone into months of lunchtime, after-school and weekend rehearsals. The showcase featured performances full of energy, character and storytelling, with pupils demonstrating strong technical ability throughout.
Particularly impressive was the contribution of pupils who also stepped into the role of choreographers, creating ensemble sections inspired by the journey through Oz. Their work demonstrated creativity, confidence and a thoughtful understanding of how narrative can be communicated through movement, alongside excellent leadership during the rehearsal process.
The showcase was a fantastic celebration of the creativity, dedication and enthusiasm for Dance across RGS Worcester and RGS Dodderhill. Congratulations to all pupils involved on such an engaging and memorable production and to Head of Performing Arts at RGS Dodderhill, Mrs Ashley Allen, for her choreography, guidance and support in bringing the showcase to life.
