World Championship Silver for Year Nine Sailor

Year Nine pupil Jake enjoyed an outstanding summer of Sailing, securing a Silver medal at the ITCA 4.2 World Championships in Quiberon, France.

The international result followed an excellent season in which Jake had already been crowned ITCA 4.2 National Series Champion. Having secured the overall title with one event remaining, he concluded the national series with victories at Draycote Water and Hayling Island, alongside consistently strong performances throughout the competition.

Jake then travelled to France during the summer holidays to compete at the ITCA 4.2 World Championships, where 187 boats from countries including China, Canada, Ireland, Spain, Malta and Great Britain took part. Across a week of closely contested racing in light and variable conditions, the 4.2 fleet completed ten of the fifteen planned races.

After taking an early lead, Jake remained consistently among the podium positions throughout the Championships, producing another impressive series of performances to finish second overall and secure a World Championship Silver medal.

The result completes an exceptional period of progress for Jake, who has trained with both the National Performance Squad and Draycote Academy Squad and continues to develop at the highest level of junior Sailing.
