The Results Are In…
The Lent Term House competitions saw a closely contested battle across all four Houses, with Elgar aiming to build on their Michaelmas lead while Ottley, Whiteladies and Wylde all pushed to close the gap.
E-sports once again proved a competitive start to the term. Wylde took early control with victories in the Junior and Inter competitions alongside a second-place finish in the Seniors, while Ottley secured the Senior title. Whiteladies responded well after Michaelmas, making an excellent start with victory in Junior Boardgames and a strong second place in House Music. Performances across the event were of a very high standard and all Houses should be proud, with Wylde’s You Can’t Stop the Beat from Hairspray taking top spot and helping them establish an early lead.
Elgar soon found their momentum, claiming victory in the Bismarck model-making competition alongside second-place finishes in the World Book Day Quiz and Junior General Knowledge. However, Whiteladies and Wylde continued to collect points in these events, maintaining their advantage in the race for the Lent trophy.
Table Tennis saw points shared between three Houses, with Elgar, Whiteladies and Wylde each winning Seniors, Inters and Juniors respectively, while Mr Friend secured first place in the staff competition.
After a quieter start to the term, Ottley produced a strong run of results, winning Senior Debating and following this with victories in Senior Football and both Senior and Inter Netball. This late surge brought them firmly back into contention in what became one of the closest House competitions in recent years.
With just 6.5 points separating first and fourth place, all Houses remained in contention as the term drew to a close.
Lent Term House standings:
4th – Elgar (43 points)
3rd – Whiteladies (43.5 points)
2nd – Ottley (47 points)
1st – Wylde (49.5 points)
