Primary Schools Enjoy Partnerships Football Tournament at RGS Worcester
RGS Worcester was delighted to welcome pupils from six local primary schools for a Partnerships Football Tournament, bringing together young players for an enjoyable afternoon of Football and friendly competition.
As part of the School’s ongoing Partnerships work with local schools, teams from Claines, St George’s Catholic, Leigh and Bransford, Hollymount, St Clement’s and St George’s CofE took part in a series of 7-a-side matches, each played over two seven-minute halves. The format allowed for a fast-paced and engaging programme of fixtures, with all teams demonstrating enthusiasm, teamwork and a positive spirit throughout.
In keeping with the inclusive nature of the event, the tournament was not focused on overall winners. However, Claines delivered a particularly strong performance across the afternoon, remaining unbeaten with four wins and one draw. Leigh and Bransford also impressed, with closely contested matches between the two sides providing some of the most memorable moments of the tournament.
The event brought together 61 pupils, 12 members of staff and around 30 spectators, creating a lively and encouraging atmosphere. A team of Lower Sixth Sports Leaders played an important role in ensuring the smooth running of the afternoon. Working in pairs, they supported individual schools, assisted with scorekeeping and helped to distribute refreshments and giveaways, demonstrating excellent leadership and organisation.
This tournament was a wonderful example of the School’s commitment to building strong relationships with local partner schools through shared opportunities. We thank all those involved for their enthusiasm and support and well done to everyone who took part in such an enjoyable afternoon of Football.
