Sisters Selected for Young Fashion Designer UK Finals
RGS Worcester is delighted to share the success of several pupils in this year’s Young Fashion Designer UK (YFDUK) Midlands competition, with sisters Joyce and Ruby both selected as finalists.
Joyce and Ruby have each qualified for the national finals in different age categories, marking the first time siblings have both reached the final stages of the competition. The YFDUK finals will take place at RGS Worcester tomorrow, with finalists selected from more than 250 entries submitted across the Midlands region alone. The success also continues Ruby’s excellent year in Fashion and Design, following her recent achievement in the Fashion Icon competition earlier this year.
Alongside the finalists, several other pupils were recognised by the judges for their creativity and design work. Maia and Mabel received Highly Commended awards in the Years Seven and Eight category, while Dotti and Kate were Highly Commended in the Year Nine category and have also been placed on the reserve list for the finals.
Young Fashion Designer UK is hosted annually at RGS Worcester and continues to attract entries from talented young designers across the Midlands. To have multiple pupils recognised in such a competitive field is an excellent achievement and reflects the creativity, originality and dedication shown by all involved.
Head of Textiles, Mrs Jo Bishop, said: “We are incredibly proud of all the pupils involved. To have two finalists from the same family is particularly special and reflects the creativity and commitment both Joyce and Ruby have shown throughout the competition process. It has also been wonderful to see so many of our pupils recognised for the quality of their ideas and design work in such a competitive regional competition.”
We look forward to welcoming finalists from across the region to RGS for the Young Fashion Designer UK finals tomorrow and wish Joyce, Ruby and all pupils recognised in this year’s competition the very best.
