RGS Worcester Rugby Stars Shine on International Stage
During the Easter holiday, Upper Sixth students Ala Lutui and Dan Halkon showcased their talent at the Women and Men’s Under 18 Six Nations Festival, representing England and Scotland respectively. Ala and Dan had three opportunities to don their national colours, further building on their previous international experience.
Head of Rugby, Mr Robert Lewis commented: “Ala and Dan’s remarkable achievement is a testament to their unwavering dedication and passion over the past three years. Ala’s pivotal role at No.8 for England, starting in all three fixtures and even scoring a powerful try against France, earned her a well-deserved place in the ‘Team of the Tournament’. Similarly, Dan showcased his diligence and effectiveness, starting in two of his three appearances, proving himself to be a reliable and unwavering presence on the international stage.
The success of these two players adds to the growing recognition of RGS Worcester’s Rugby Provision and Athlete Development Programme, which has now produced three international Rugby players in the past two seasons, with Loic Keasey gaining recognition from England Under 18s last academic year. These recent international successes further highlight the school’s commitment to personalised athlete development. We take immense pride in Ala and Dan’s recent accomplishments and firmly believe that they have been equipped with the skills and support from our dedicated sporting staff to reach their full potential beyond RGS Worcester.”
In addition, Archie Davies, Joe Callow and Ben Gatfield have all been chosen to represent Herefordshire & Worcestershire in their upcoming representative fixtures. Joshua Griffiths has also attended Ireland Under 17 Camps over the past few weeks, further showcasing the RGS Worcester Rugby Programme.
