RGS Worcester Designers Selected for NEC Fashion Showcase
RGS Worcester pupils have achieved outstanding success in the national Fashion Icon competition, with several pupils receiving national recognition ahead of the final taking place on Friday 13 March at the Fashion, Embroidery and Stitch Show at the NEC.
Natasha Johnson, Isabel Gonnella and Mya Shoker have each been awarded Highly Commended, an impressive achievement given they are among the younger entrants in a competition open to pupils aged 13 to 18 years. The pupils created three design boards inspired by a recycling theme for a proposed black and white fashion event, demonstrating creativity, technical skill and thoughtful engagement with sustainable designs.
Dotti Davis has also received a Highly Commended award and has been invited to display her completed garment at the exhibition, while Ruby Li has achieved exceptional success, being selected as one of just ten finalists invited to showcase her work on the catwalk during the event.
The design boards created by all five pupils will be exhibited at the NEC, where they are expected to be viewed by more than 40,000 visitors across the duration of the show. Speaking about the achievements, Head of Textiles, Mrs Bishop said, “I am incredibly proud of all of the pupils and delighted that, once again, they have excelled at this level.”
The pupils now look ahead to the final event at the NEC, where their work will be showcased alongside leading young designers from across the country. Their success highlights the creativity, innovation and ambition encouraged within Textiles at RGS Worcester and the School looks forward to celebrating their continued achievements.
