RGS Pupils Gain Professional Rugby Insight with Worcester Warriors
Pupils from across The RGS Worcester Family of Schools have recently enjoyed two inspiring training sessions with Worcester Warriors, reflecting our role as the Warriors’ official sole Education Partner.
On 10 September, pupils at RGS The Grange were thrilled to take part in a special training session with members of the Worcester Warriors squad. Pupils showed great enthusiasm as they developed their Rugby skills and embraced the values of teamwork, resilience and confidence. Meeting the players and having rugby shirts and balls signed made the day even more memorable, with one Year Six pupil describing it as “the best day of my life”.
Later in the month, on 25 September, a group of selected Senior pupils from RGS Worcester were invited to Sixways Stadium for an exclusive training session with a gym Strength and Conditioning session led by Will Cusack, Worcester Warriors Head of Strength & Power Conditioning, as well as a Rugby coaching session from Warriors Head Coach Matt Everard.
This provided a rare opportunity to step into the professional environment, testing their abilities alongside players while gaining an insight into the standards of commitment and discipline required to succeed at the highest level of the sport. Experiences such as these refine technical skills and inspire pupils to raise their aspirations and explore what is possible within their own sporting journeys.
Together, these sessions highlight the strength of the RGS sporting pathway, from early opportunities at RGS The Grange through to Senior Rugby at RGS Worcester, supported by the Athlete Development Programme. Our affiliation with Worcester Warriors offers experiences that few schools can provide ensuring the RGS students are supported to grow in confidence, resilience and ambition.
We are grateful to Worcester Warriors for their continued support in providing such unique opportunities, which will remain a highlight of our pupils’ time at RGS.
