RGS Marks World Mental Health Day
Ahead of World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10 October, RGS Worcester pupils and staff marked the occasion today, raising awareness of mental health and the importance of supporting one another.
To recognise the occasion, pupils wore yellow ribbons during the School day, providing a simple but visible reminder of the importance of looking after our own mental health and supporting those around us. The Catering team also joined in with specially themed yellow food available during the day.
The occasion also encouraged pupils to consider the importance of talking openly about how they feel, asking for help when needed and recognising when others may need support.
Supporting pupils’ wellbeing is an important part of the pastoral provision at RGS throughout the year. Pupils have access to Form Tutors, Heads of Year and the wider Pastoral and Wellbeing team, alongside the Health Centre, School Counsellors and Mental Health First Aid trained staff. Dedicated wellbeing and relaxation spaces are also available, together with relaxation sessions and access to the School’s therapy dog, providing pupils with a range of different ways to seek support.
Peer support also forms part of this provision, with Pastoral Prefects supporting younger pupils, while the anonymous Tootoot reporting service provides another way for pupils to raise concerns and begin a conversation with a member of the Pastoral team.
While World Mental Health Day provides an important opportunity to raise awareness, the support available to pupils remains a priority throughout the School year. We thank everyone who helped mark the occasion and encourage pupils to continue looking out for themselves and one another. To find out more about support at RGS Worcester, please click here.
