Plans Take Off with New School Flying Club
RGS Worcester is delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new opportunity for our pupils: the School Flying Club, starting in January 2026. This club is being introduced in partnership with British Young Pilots (BYP), an organisation dedicated to youth aviation.
The Flying Club will offer pupils genuine, hands-on access to the fascinating world of aviation. Weekly sessions will be led by a qualified BYP instructor and will cover essential flight theory through engaging classroom activities and desktop flight simulation. Pupils will explore key academic subjects in a practical context, including Physics, Meteorology, Navigation and Engineering.
A highlight of the programme is the option for pupils to take to the skies in a real aircraft each term, putting their knowledge into practice in a fully supervised and safe environment. Beyond the exhilaration of flying, the programme is designed to build confidence, encouraging pupils to take on new challenges, spark curiosity, igniting a passion for learning and exploration and inspire STEM interest, making Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths relevant and exciting.
Pupils will have the opportunity to follow the structured BYP syllabus, with the ultimate potential to work towards achieving a pilot’s licence before they leave school. We look forward to seeing our pupils’ ambitions take flight and soar to new heights!
