New Beginnings in Elgar, Ottley, Whiteladies & Wylde
Year Seven pupils came together this week for the annual House Launch Assembly, marking the beginning of their involvement in the RGS Worcester House system and a busy year of competitions and activities.
Gathering together for the Assembly, pupils learned more about the four Houses of Elgar, Ottley, Whiteladies and Wylde, how the House system works and the many ways they can get involved throughout their time at RGS. The highlight of the Assembly was finding out which House each pupil would join.
Year Seven pupils were also introduced to this year’s House Captains, who had already begun their roles with their respective Houses earlier this term. Emma and Arun lead Elgar, Bella and Mia represent Ottley, Lily and John lead Whiteladies and Sienna and Isabelle represent Wylde. The Captains will play an important role in encouraging participation, supporting their fellow pupils and helping to build House spirit throughout the year.
Pupils heard about the wide variety of opportunities to earn points for their House, with competitions taking place across Sport, Music, Drama, Academic subjects and Co-curricular activities. This term alone, the programme includes Pétanque, Badminton, Chess, Poetry, General Knowledge and the Cipher Challenge, providing plenty of opportunities for pupils with different interests and talents to contribute.
The House programme is an important part of School life, bringing together pupils from different Year Groups and encouraging participation, teamwork and a strong sense of belonging throughout the year.
With the 2026–27 competition now underway, we look forward to seeing Year Seven pupils get involved, support their House and make the most of the many opportunities ahead!
