National Youth Orchestra selection for Isabella
Congratulations to Upper Sixth student, Isabella Hulbert who has received the exciting news this week that she has been selected for the National Youth Orchestra as a violinist.
She says: “After submitting my audition video, interview and personal essay to the National Youth Orchestra in June, I was thrilled to receive a final round audition in Manchester in early September. The full-day audition included performance, composition and improvisation, group excerpt performances, an audition playing orchestral excerpts and solo repertoire, plus an interview! I left excited, having met many talented musicians and like-minded people. I was delighted to be offered a place in the 2022 NY Orchestra a few weeks later. I will be partaking in three residencies at New Year, Easter and Summer, each lasting two weeks, including a National concert tour, culminating in Summer 2022 at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall.”
Aside from orchestral playing on these courses, Isabella will also take a leadership role in the National Youth Orchestra Inspire and National Youth Orchestra Open, which provides orchestral training and inspiration for other young musicians. Isabella adds, “I am so excited for the year ahead and am incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to play in one of the most prestigious youth orchestras in the world.”
Isabella sings and plays the violin as well as being a gifted Drama Scholar! She can often be seen participating in RGS Worcester’s many events, productions and concerts. Please click here to enjoy Isabella perform the stunning Caprice No.16 (solo violin) from Paganini.
