Mock MMI Success for Our Aspiring Medics, Dentists and Vets
Last Friday, RGS Worcester once again hosted its annual Mock Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs), giving our prospective medics, dentists and vets a valuable taste of what to expect in their upcoming university interviews. The MMI format, now widely used by medical, dental and veterinary schools, challenges applicants to demonstrate communication skills, ethical awareness, teamwork, critical thinking and empathy across a range of short, structured stations.
This year’s event had a real buzz, with eight stations designed to mirror real interview scenarios. Students rotated through tasks that included data interpretation, ethical dilemmas, prioritisation exercises and communication challenges. For many, it was their first opportunity to experience the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of MMIs.
We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers who dedicated their time, energy and expertise to make the afternoon such a success. Dr Heather Ironside, Dr Courtenay Parry, Dr Rashmi Peddareddy, Miss Kitty Smith, Mr Lewis Wong, Dr Anna Hunt and Mr Dominic Jay each brought insight and professionalism to their stations, offering supportive and constructive feedback.
A special thank-you goes to Administrative Assistant, Miss Annabelle Howarth, who took on the demanding role-play station, often the part that applicants find the most daunting. Her thoughtful acting and constructive feedback helped students build confidence in managing sensitive and complex interactions, a vital skill for all future healthcare professionals.
The afternoon also highlighted the strong sense of community within our school. Staff, students, parent and alumni volunteers all came together with a shared purpose: to support the next generation of healthcare professionals as they take their first steps towards highly competitive careers. The encouragement offered throughout the event helped create an atmosphere that was both challenging and reassuring.
We look forward to seeing our students carry this experience into their upcoming interviews and wish them all the very best of luck!
