Middle School Pupils Excel in Intermediate Mathematical Challenge
Middle School pupils have achieved impressive results in this year’s Intermediate Mathematical Challenge, which took place earlier this term.
More than 150 pupils from Years Nine, Ten and Eleven took part in the national competition, tackling 25 challenging mathematical problems without the use of calculators. The Challenge encourages logical thinking, problem-solving and mathematical curiosity, testing pupils’ ability to apply their knowledge in unfamiliar situations.
RGS Worcester received an excellent set of results, with 97 pupils awarded certificates. Among these were 13 Gold Awards, recognising the highest-performing participants.
Special congratulations go to the top performers in each Year group: Sean Yang (Year Nine), Michael McCabe (Year Ten) and Eric Gregory (Year Eleven).
It was particularly encouraging to see Year Nine achieve the highest number of certificates overall, despite competing against older pupils, highlighting the strength of mathematical talent within their Year group and in the Middle School.
